Medical Preceptorship
The medical preceptorship program is designed for junior and senior pre-medical students interested in gaining valuable experience in the medical field. Students are matched with community physicians according to the student's interests and availability in local hospitals, clinics and physicians' offices.
Students get the opportunity to observe medical procedures, physicians' interactions with patients and family members, the physician's work load and administrative functions as well as have the opportunity to ask pertinent questions.
To be accepted into the program, students must be enrolled at OSU, apply by deadline and interview, and have at least a 3.3 GPA. The preceptorship is a 1 credit class at OSU. Students are expected to shadow physicians for 27 hours during the term, follow institutional rules, and turn in a reflective journal.
There are a limited number of spots available in the Preceptorship Program. Applications are numbered on a first-come, first-served basis, and may be deferred to the next available term.
